The
NSBA is a voluntary association and registered charity,
working for young musicians and their teachers in primary and
secondary, state and independent schools, local music support
services and youth organisations.
Its influence
extends throughout Great Britain.
The central
aim of the NSBA is to further the

of brass and woodwind instruments in schools, colleges and communities.
The Association
acheives its aims by promoting music in several ways including

formation of bands and smaller ensembles.
•The
generation of new music (including commissions) for bands, ensembles
and individual players.
•The
dissemination of information and training opportunities for teachers
and other concerned with the education and development of young
musicians.
•The
bringing together of young musicians for festivals, inter-school
and community events and activities under expert tuition.
•Liaison
with other appropriate organisations to ensure access and opportunity
for young people with disabilities.
The Association's
affairs are run by an Executive Committee of practising teachers
and musicians.
